Bike for the Brain (B4B), an event for mental health, invites organizations and agencies providing help to people facing mental health challenges to participate in B4B’s annual Recovery Information Exchange (RIE). The purpose of the RIE is to raise awareness and provide information to people in our community about mental health resources.
Participants will set up in a designated area adjacent to the registration and start area. Please bring your own table, chairs and literature to the event. As people are getting ready for the ride to start, they’ll be encouraged to visit and learn about your agency. Since this is a fundraising event for Bike 4 the Brain, RIE participants may not sell merchandise or fundraise for their organization at the event. However, the RIE does provide a great networking opportunity.
The day begins with set up at 6AM; registration is at 7AM; and the ride starts 8AM. There is a lot of exciting commotion before the event begins. After participants complete their journey of anywhere from 10 to 72 miles, they gradually return to the start. We generally have over 400 participants and 70 volunteers. Additional smaller events include a Walk 4 Recovery for consumers and their supporters at 10 a.m. and a Tricycle Challenge at 10:30 a.m. You are welcome to stay for as short a time or as long as you like to greet the participants as they return, though most people will be gone from the start around 11AM.
If you plan to participate in the Recovery Information Exchange or have any questions, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The location for B4B is the parking lot of the Johnson County Mental Health Center at 6000 Lamar in Mission, KS.
